Man shot and hospitalized after suspected domestic violence incident in Rose Park neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 7, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – Police in Salt Lake City are investigating a shooting Tuesday afternoon that left one man injured.

At 3:11 p.m., a call came into dispatch and officers responded to a residence in the area of ​​750 N. 900 West in the Rose Park neighborhood. Police found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg.

“Officers provided life-saving assistance at the scene until Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance arrived,” the SLCPD statement said. “Paramedics took the man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“During their investigation, officers located a 16-year-old female at the scene and arrested her. During the arrest, officers also found a loaded firearm.”

A preliminary investigation suggests the incident is related to domestic violence, the statement said.

“No charges have been filed at this time. Investigators have not yet completed their investigation to determine whether the 16-year-old woman will be sent to a juvenile detention center.”
