Five Emirati men appeared in court in Dubai on charges of sodomising a 16-year-old boy, also an Emirati, in the villa of one of them.
Prosecutors accuse the five defendants – aged between 19 and 25 – of luring the boy into riding in a car and then taking him to the villa, where they sexually abused him on April 18. The incident was reported at Al Qusais police station.
During the public prosecutor’s investigation, the victim described how one of the defendants, a 20-year-old, contacted him on Snapchat at 6:15 a.m. and asked for a meeting.
“He came with his friends and picked me up near my home. They took me to a villa where they took turns raping me in a room after one of them threatened me with knives and said he would bring more people to sexually abuse me. I was taken back home at 8:30 a.m.”
The victim told the prosecutor that she was also filmed during the attack. “I only found out about it when a school friend told me that he had seen the video of the attack. I was so scared that I didn’t tell anyone what had happened to me.”
Around midnight of the same day, he confided in his brother, who also told his other siblings. His parents found out about it a few days later and reported it to the police. The victim and his parents filed a report on April 23 at 7 p.m.
A police lieutenant said the main accused – a 19-year-old who filmed the attack – was taken to the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation on April 29. The other accomplices were later arrested on the spot. They confessed to attacking the boy and that the main accused was the mastermind of the crime.”
Three of the defendants had previous convictions for sexual harassment of men. The crime scene is an adjoining room of a villa.
According to a report by the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence and Forensics, fingerprints and DNA traces of at least two defendants were found at the crime scene.
The trial will continue on August 4.
