Harrison man arrested after domestic dispute

A Harrison man was arrested after a domestic incident in which he knocked over a couch while the victim was sitting on it.

According to the affidavit, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute on the morning of May 3. The caller told dispatchers her husband, identified as 24-year-old Dreyton Hamilton, had just driven his vehicle into the left side of her vehicle and punched her in the face before leaving for work.

Upon arrival, the victim told authorities that the incident began when Hamilton could not find his e-cigarette in the apartment. She stated that she was sitting on the couch when Hamilton asked her if she was sitting on it. When she responded that she did not know, Hamilton allegedly grabbed the couch and knocked it over while the victim was still sitting on it. The victim told officers that she was 25 weeks pregnant and that Hamilton also punched her in the face. She said Hamilton then went outside, got in his car, and drove into the passenger side of her vehicle. Officers noticed red marks on the victim’s right cheek.

Officers then went to Hamilton’s place of work to inform him that they had received a report of an argument between him and his wife earlier that morning. Hamilton told officers the victim threatened to sell his truck so she could use the money to “buy things.” He went on to say he flipped the couch because he was looking for his e-cigarette and work tools, adding that he told the victim to move several times before flipping the couch while she was still sitting there. Hamilton also stated that he did not hit the victim, but if he had, “you would know.”

Hamilton was arrested and booked into the Boone County Detention Center. He is charged with domestic violence and battery on a family member. He was released on $5,000 bail.
