According to Arlington County Police, Fire and Emergency Services, officials evacuated the Pentagon City Mall on Saturday evening to investigate reports of a suspicious vehicle.

According to Arlington County police spokeswoman Ashley Savage, the incident began around 7:30 p.m. in a shopping center garage in the 800 block of Army Navy Drive. Police evacuated the mall shortly after receiving the report.

The public was asked to avoid the area while investigators determined whether and, if so, what kind of threat the suspicious vehicle posed.

When asked if residents of neighboring buildings should be evacuated, the department said no further evacuations were necessary.

At 10:55 p.m., Arlington County Police said “the all-clear has been given for the vehicle,” adding that police and firefighters were working to clear the scene.

The department has not released any further details about the incident or the suspect vehicle.
