Waterloo Regional Police arrest man after gun incident in Waterloo

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a Kitchener man on multiple weapons charges.

On June 1, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm in the area of ​​University Avenue East and Weber Street North in Waterloo.

A group of men were walking in the area when an unknown man approached them and pointed a firearm at them. The man quickly left the area before police arrived.

No reports of physical injuries were reported.

Police quickly found the man near the crime scene and arrested him. Officers found the firearm and determined that it was an airsoft pistol.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon, dangerous possession of a weapon and pointing a firearm.

The man was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
