1 dead after motorcycle accident in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – One person was killed in a motorcycle accident in Sarasota Thursday evening.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Fruitville Road at Paramount Drive.

Photos from the scene of the accident showed a wrecked motorcycle and a car with severe damage to the driver’s door. The front wheel of the motorcycle was trapped in the car.

The westbound lanes of Fruitville Road were closed at Paramount Drive while officials investigated the crash.
