DADEVILLE, Alabama (WRBL) – The search for 30-year-old Quanisha Davis of Alexander City, Alabama, ended in tragedy when her remains were discovered Thursday morning in a wooded area off Herren Street in Dadeville, Alabama. Davis, who was reported missing on May 24, was last seen on May 17.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Alexander City Police Department, Dadeville Police Department, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department and the State Bureau of Investigation. Early that morning, around 7:45 a.m., Davis’ remains were found, prompting authorities to upgrade the missing person case to a homicide.

During a press conference Thursday afternoon, law enforcement began by expressing condolences to Davis’ family and friends. Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett announced that Robert Lee Young, 55, of 243 Aster Street, Dadeville, was arrested and charged with murder. Young, who had a relationship with Davis, remains in the Tallapoosa County Jail pending a bond hearing scheduled for later this week. Investigators say they cannot comment at this time on the evidence that led to Young’s arrest.

The victim’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Davis’ white 2006 Ford Explorer was also found in another wooded area off North Loop Road in Dadeville at around 6:40 p.m. on May 29.

Authorities urge anyone with additional information on the whereabouts of Quanisha Davis prior to her death to contact Alexander City Police at (256) 234-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867).
