Recall alert: 2024 Ford F-150

Ford has issued a recall for 385 F-150 pickups from model year 2024 because they may lose steering control.

Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that workers used an incorrect fastener in the trucks’ steering columns. The incorrect fastener can loosen and come off over time. “If the fastener comes off, it can cause separation of components adjacent to the steering system, which could result in loss of steering control and an increased risk of a crash,” the recall notice states.

Using production records, Ford was able to narrow the recall to specific trucks. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem, which was discovered by a factory worker.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace the closure. By law, dealers do not charge for repairs during a recall.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. Although automakers try to reach every owner and ask them to bring the vehicle in for repairs, they rarely reach everyone. Millions of vehicles on American roads are subject to free repairs as part of the recall. To find out if your car is one of them, use the simple VIN tool in our Recall Center.
