Woman charged with sexual assault on police officer – The Irish News

A CO Antrim woman has been charged with sexually assaulting a male police officer.

Although Lesley Ann Stewart did not appear at Antrim Magistrates Court in Ballymena, the 33-year-old was charged with two offenses relating to an alleged incident on July 8 last year.

Stewart, of Grange Cottages in Toomebridge, is charged with sexually assaulting a man because she touched the complainant. “The circumstances were that the touching was sexual, he did not consent to the touching and you did not reasonably believe that he consented” and a further charge of disorderly conduct at Antrim Area Hospital.

The full facts of the case were not disclosed, but a lawyer for the prosecution told the court that the alleged victim was a police officer. Defense lawyer Grant Powles asked for the proceedings to be adjourned to allow the defense to take instructions.

Accordingly, District Judge Nigel Broderick adjourned the case for two weeks.
