Euclid police officer shot, suspect at large

EUCLID, Ohio – A Euclid police officer is dead and the search for the suspect is underway.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, Euclid police were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of East 211th Street for a report of a disturbance. Investigators said that while police were investigating, a gunman opened fire and struck an officer. The officer was taken to an area hospital but died from his injuries. The officer’s name was not released.

Euclid police have identified the suspect as 24-year-old Deshawn Anthony Vaughn. He is described as 1.80 m tall, weighing 100 kg, with black hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a white 2017 Volkswagen Passat with a temporary license plate in the window. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Vaughn’s arrest.
