French airlines suspend flights to Lebanon for security reasons

French aviation giants Air France and Transavia have announced the suspension of their flights to Lebanon amid growing concerns about security threats posed by a possible Israeli attack on the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.

According to a report citing BFMTV, an Air France spokesperson said: “Affected customers will be informed individually and will be offered solutions for postponement or refund. The airline is constantly monitoring the evolution of the geopolitical situation in the areas it serves and flies over in order to ensure the highest level of flight safety.”

The flight bans affect the routes planned for July 29 and 30. Meanwhile, the German airline Lufthansa Group has extended its flight ban to the Lebanese capital Beirut until August 5 inclusive.
