July ends this week with warm and humid weather and the chance of storms

A weak front will gradually move through Minnesota and into Wisconsin through Monday morning. During this time, a few isolated showers and thunderstorms may move through or develop in our area, with some heavier downpours possible. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy overnight as it remains warm and muggy. Lows will be back in the 70s. The front is expected to move east sometime in the afternoon hours, where the chance of showers and thunderstorms should end. We’ll see a mix of clouds and sunshine throughout the day, with a chance of temperatures rising back into the mid 80s with sunshine by late afternoon. Tropical humidity will persist, with dew points around 70 degrees.

Tuesday will be dry again, but only in the sense that it won’t rain. It will remain quite humid with dew points around 21 degrees. A weak high pressure system is just west of us, bringing us plenty of sunshine with highs again around 27 degrees. As the high pressure system moves east through Wednesday, we will keep a close eye on possible thunderstorm development west of us. This will be the next low pressure system and front to come over the Central/Northern Plains. The flow aloft will have a ridge of heat south of us, while another low pressure system will move east from Montana along the US-Canadian border. This will be a configuration that could produce some thunderstorm complexes that could hit our area during Wednesday-Thursday. Otherwise, it will remain warm and humid with highs around 32 degrees on Wednesday, getting a bit cooler on Thursday and increasing the chance of rain. The next bout of high weather is expected in the region by Friday and into next weekend, and dry weather will return, but temperatures are unlikely to drop significantly as we continue to stay above 27 degrees.
