Two people arrested after alleged short circuit in car | Local news

Two men were arrested for allegedly hot-wiring a car.

On Wednesday, July 24, officers with the Storey County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a vacant home in the Mark Twain neighborhood of Storey County.

After confirming that no one was on the property, officers found two men in a trailer behind the house.

They also found the property owner’s pickup truck that was running but had no key in the ignition and appeared to have been shorted out.

Alejandro Mendez, 23, and Shane Cram, 46, both of Dayton, were arrested.

Mendez is facing charges including burglary of a home, grand theft of a motor vehicle, breaking or tampering with a motor vehicle, and possession of less than 14 grams of a Schedule I or Schedule II controlled substance.

Cram is charged with possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Both men were taken to the Storey County Detention Center. Cram posted bail and was released on conditions. Mendez was released on honor parole.
