Georgia woman dies after two-vehicle collision

The Cherokee County coroner says a woman has died after a two-vehicle crash near Chesnee. The coroner says it happened around 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Veronica Carol Proctor, 32, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic and crossed the center lane while traveling north on U.S. Highway 211-A near Scruggs Trail, the coroner said. She then collided with another Honda Civic traveling south. The coroner says Proctor died at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt. The other driver was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center and her daughter was flown by helicopter to Greenville Memorial Hospital, police said. An autopsy will be performed at a later date.
