Rescue teams respond to incident at Dalkey quarry – The Irish Times

Emergency services were called to Dalkey in south County Dublin late Sunday evening after a person fell in a disused quarry.

The incident occurred around 11pm and units from the National Emergency Service, the Garda and a Coastguard helicopter attended the scene.

A Coast Guard spokesman confirmed that the Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched to the quarry. However, he said the person who fell did not suffer life-threatening injuries and the helicopter was therefore withdrawn. The spokesman said that as the operation was still ongoing, no further information was available.

The former quarry is a popular destination for climbers.
