Jackets return to Atlanta Open – Men’s Tennis — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

ATLANTA, Georgia – With the latest edition of the Atlanta Open set to begin this weekend, Georgia Tech will be represented by a trio of Yellow Jackets in the field.

Andres Martin Martin will be making his fourth appearance in the ATP tournament, having earned a wild card into the singles main draw. Martin will compete at College Night on Tuesday, July 23, for the third consecutive year. In 2023, Martin earned his first professional main draw victory at College Night, defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis in three sets, 6-3, 6-2. The Flowery Branch, Georgia, native faced former Yellow Jacket Christopher Eubanks at last year’s College Night.

Current assistant coach, Kevin Kingearned his spot in the qualifying draw and will play on the tournament’s opening day Saturday against JJ Wolf. King, who turned pro after graduating, was the first Yellow Jacket to compete at College Night to kick off the tradition. King competed in qualifying last year, as well as in the doubles main draw with Martin. The new Yellow Jacket, who will join King in qualifying Saturday, will be the next to join King. Nate Bonettowho will face Billy Harris.

Tickets for the 2024 Atlanta Open, played at Atlantic Station, are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting the tournament website.
