Stop-and-snooze driver arrested for drug offenses: Parma police report

PARMA, Ohio

Drug Abuse, Newport Avenue: On June 28, police were dispatched to Newport Avenue after a concerned passerby called police about a man slumped over the steering wheel of a Ford F-150 at a stop sign.

An arriving officer found the driver, who said he fell asleep when he ran out of gas.

Then the officer noticed suspected drugs in the vehicle.

The man was arrested for drug abuse.

Drug Abuse, W. 54th Street: During a traffic stop of a Jeep Compass on June 29 for a traffic violation on West 54th Street, officers found the driver to be in possession of suspected illegal drugs.

He was arrested for drug abuse.

Overdose, Charles Avenue: On June 29, police were called to an address on Charles Avenue regarding an overdose.

An arriving officer found the woman from Parma, who was resuscitated with Narcan and charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Aggravated assault, North Avenue: On June 29, police were called to a home on North Avenue because of an altercation.

An arriving officer learned that a woman was suspected of causing serious physical harm to another woman during an altercation in the house.

Charges were filed against her for grievous bodily harm.

Escape, Brookpark Road: During a traffic stop of a Dodge Charger for numerous traffic violations on June 29 on Brookpark Road, the driver fled.

The police called off the pursuit after dangerous speeds were reached.

There are no suspects. The police are investigating.

Open Containers, Brookpark Road: During a traffic stop of a Mercedes sedan for an equipment violation on June 30 on Brookpark Road, police discovered suspected drugs and open containers.

The driver was arrested for drug abuse and open drug container.
