Witnesses desperately tried to warn police about a rifle-armed sniper on the roof before Trump’s assassination attempt

Witnesses desperately tried to warn police that a sniper armed with a rifle was crawling around on a rooftop shortly before the shooting broke out at the Trump rally on Saturday.

“You could clearly see him with a rifle,” the man, wearing a MAGA 2020 hat, told BBC News.
“We’re pointing at him. The police are running around on the ground down there.

“We said, ‘Hey, man, there’s a guy with a gun on the roof.’ And the police said, ‘Huh?’ They didn’t know what was going on.”

The witness said he and his friends tried to warn police for several minutes while Secret Service members watched, and then decided not to intervene until between five and eight shots were fired, which he said were “100 percent” fired by the man with the gun.

“He was up there for a few minutes, definitely at least three or four minutes. We pointed him out to the intelligence service, who were watching us from the roof of the barn. They were watching us the whole time.”

Only after the shooter had fired did the police neutralize the threat: “They shot his head off.”

Elon Musk posted the video on X and wrote: “The head of the Secret Service and the head of this security unit should resign.”
