One dead, three arrested in Winnsboro shooting

WINNSBORO, Louisiana (KNOE) – Three people were arrested following a fatal shooting in Winnsboro on Monday, July 18.

According to Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb, the Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office (FPSO) and the City of Winnsboro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 4 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two parties had arranged to meet to exchange firearms when the situation took a turn for the worse.

According to FPSO, 18-year-old Donald Morrison of Delhi died from gunshot wounds and another person was hospitalized. When authorities arrived, two suspects were detained by officers while others fled the scene. Authorities said another suspect was arrested at a later time.

Justin Dykes, 18, of Delhi, was arrested for attempted premeditated murder, resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Robert Longino, 19, of Delhi was arrested for aggravated escape, incitement to juvenile delinquency, conspiracy to commit juvenile delinquency and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

A juvenile was also arrested because of his connection to the crime.

Sheriff Cobb said more arrests are expected.
