Manteno, who is accused of sex crimes against a child, allegedly used social media to find a victim

MANTENO, Illinois – A Kankakee County man has been charged with sexual abuse of a child and possession of child pornography.

According to Rockford police, 29-year-old Davin Pafford of Manteno has been charged with aggravated sexual abuse and possession of child pornography.


The charges stem from an incident reported to police on March 29, 2024, when officers were contacted to investigate a report of sexual abuse of a child.

Officers from the Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit later conducted further investigation and identified Pafford as a suspect.

According to police, Pafford found the victim through social media.

Officials said the charges were filed after the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case.

Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Pafford on Sunday and he was later found by Channahon police during a traffic stop.
