GROTON – A motorcyclist from Ayer was killed late Wednesday afternoon when a motor vehicle crossed into his lane and collided head-on on Boston Road.

The motorcyclist, identified by authorities as 27-year-old Cody Trudell, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Groton Police said in a joint news release that preliminary investigations indicate the motor vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old Townsend woman, was traveling westbound on Boston Road shortly after 4:20 p.m. when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with Trudell’s motorcycle as he was traveling eastbound.

The woman from Townsend was still at the scene after the accident, authorities said.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Groton Police Department and the State Police Accident Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.
