Two people shot in broad daylight attack in Tompkins Square Park in New York

Two people were shot dead in broad daylight in Tompkins Square Park on Friday, authorities said.

The two victims were shot in the back around 9:50 a.m. at the corner of East 7th Street and Avenue A in the historic East Village Park, police said.

Both were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where their condition is stable, police said.

There was initially no information available about the age and gender of the victims.
