Three family members are killed and several others, including children, are injured after a shooting in a California home while police arrest a suspect

Three family members were killed and several others injured in a shooting overnight in a California home.

On Wednesday evening, police were called to a home in Alameda in the greater San Francisco Bay Area after a resident reported that his neighbor had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers from the Alameda Police Department (APD) found the victim.

While clearing the house, officers discovered several family members, including children, who had obviously suffered gunshot wounds.

A suspect is in custody. Police did not initially give a motive for the shooting.

The APD said in a statement on Facebook that it received a call from a person reporting that their neighbor had been shot in the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road in the city of Alameda.

“We are deeply saddened to report that three victims did not survive and other family members are being treated at local hospitals,” police said.

There is no indication that there is a danger to the public, the police said. The investigation is ongoing.
