Gym owner stabbed to death and attacked 21 times in the face in Delhi

New Delhi :

The 28-year-old gym owner was stabbed to death by a group of men in the Bhajanpura district of northeast Delhi, police said on Thursday.

The victim, Sumit Chaudhary alias Prem, also ran a tour and travel business and was attacked outside his house in Gamri Extension late on Wednesday night, they said.

Joy Tirkey, deputy commissioner of police (Northeast), said Chaudhary was sitting outside his house when he got into an argument with three to four men. The men attacked him with a knife and stabbed him multiple times in the face, neck, chest and stomach. His face bore more than 21 stab wounds.

Chaudhary was taken to JPC Hospital where doctors declared him dead. He has been convicted of attempt to murder and is out on bail, the DCP said.

Video surveillance recordings are currently being scanned to identify the perpetrators, he said.

Chaudhary leaves behind his wife and a three-year-old son.
