Prosecutor: 1 dead and 1 injured in Independence Day shooting in Mercer

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – One person was killed and another injured in a shooting in Trenton on Thursday, the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office said.

On Thursday, July 4, at around 11:30 p.m., Trenton Police responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Amir Williams of Trenton lying on the ground with numerous gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Williams, 32, was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, officials said.

During the investigation, a second shooting victim, a woman, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hip area.

The Mercer County Homicide Unit and Trenton Police are investigating. No arrests have been made.
