Jamestown man arrested after riding scooter on race track with drugs

(WJET/WFXP) – A New York man was arrested in the early hours of Independence Day after police said they spotted him riding a scooter on a school running track.

According to Jamestown police, officers were on patrol around 1:50 a.m. Thursday, checking the area surrounding Persell School when they saw the man driving on the race track.


After the confrontation, police identified the man as 42-year-old Maurice Hough of Jamestown, who had an arrest warrant out of Jamestown Municipal Court.

During the arrest, police say Hough allegedly attempted to hide and destroy over half an ounce of methamphetamine before being taken into custody.

He is now facing charges of fourth- and seventh-degree unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two counts of tampering with evidence. He also has an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown Municipal Court.
