LOGAN — A man allegedly fleeing from police caused a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night that sent him to the hospital. The crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. in southwest Logan.

Logan City Police Lt. Barry Parslow said officers were originally called to an apartment complex near 945 W. 2200 South for a report of serious domestic violence.

According to the emergency radio report, a woman claimed that the suspect threatened her with a gun and then drove away in a gray Mercedes.

A Cache County Sheriff’s deputy located the suspect vehicle near 800 W. 3200 South. The car continued on US-89/91, where it reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic.

Police continued to pursue the vehicle and witnessed it collide with another car near 1380 W. 1800 South. The other vehicle had three juvenile occupants.

The officers immediately called the emergency services via radio and began first aid. The suspect reportedly had several open bone fractures. The passenger in the other vehicle was also injured.

Parslow said the suspect was taken to Logan Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the other vehicle were treated and released at the scene.

Police officers reportedly searched the Mercedes and found a BB gun.

Parslow said the investigation into the aggravated assault and personal injury accident is ongoing. The Northern Utah Critical Incident Protocol Team, led by the Cache County District Attorney’s Office, has been deployed to assist with the investigation.

The suspect has not been identified.
