At 14th JuneHector was having car trouble and was being towed near the Red Rover Mine in Acton when a 17-year-old driver collided with the rear of his car, hitting both Hector and the tow truck driver.

After the collision, the 17-year-old driver fled the scene on foot and was later arrested.

Now, in their grief, Hector’s family is asking the community for help with costs, such as the funeral.

“He was a good boy, very hardworking, trying to do the right thing, going to school and helping his mother through his parents’ divorce,” said Hector’s cousin Olga Garcia. “He was his mother’s pillar of support and it was a difficult loss.”

To make matters worse, this is the second child that Hector’s parents have lost. He was the second eldest child and his tragic death has left a hole in the family.
