Father Olin Johnson from Utah allegedly killed his wife Kerilyn by murder and suicide after writing a terrifying Facebook post: Police

A Utah man and his wife were found dead on Thursday afternoon in what is suspected to be a murder-suicide. Just days earlier, he said he was a “shitty human being” in his last terrifying social media post.

Olin Johnson, 57, is accused of shooting 52-year-old Kerilyn Johnson before turning the gun on himself in her $1.34 million home in American Fork, Utah, KUTV reports.

Police did not release a motive for the murder, but said a family member discovered the parents’ bodies.

Neighbors of the couple said they had played softball with them the night before the shooting and noticed no problems when Olin dropped hints about future plans, the outlet reported.

The couple celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary in April.

Before the tragedy, Olin shared his worrying thoughts and his love for his motorcycle.

“No matter how bad of a person I am, motorcycles always love me too. Oh, and skiing. Skiing loves me too,” Olin’s June 18 post read, alongside photos of him riding motorcycles and skiing.

Olin’s account included a bio that read, “Father of 6 amazing kids and a wonderful wife,” and featured his family, especially Kerilyn.

“The family requests privacy as they mourn their loss. We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Olin and Kerilyn,” American Fork police said.

According to his LinkedIn account, Olin is listed as the owner of Simtek Modular, a “services company that manufactures modular panels for force-on-force training.”

The site claims the company has worked on projects with U.S. Border Patrol, the FBI and the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

Recent posts featured the couple’s trip to Australia, where they celebrated Kerilyn’s birthday, and a separate post praised their bread baking.

Kerilyn Johnson was an adjunct professor at the BYU School of Music, where she taught several courses over the past two years.

She has performed in numerous major stage productions and has performed throughout the United States, Russia and the Baltic States during her undergraduate studies.

“She currently works on location in the studio and maintains her private studio at home, as well as being the mother of six children,” her bio states.

We will remember her as a generous friend who will be missed.

“Kerilyn was literally one of the most generous, kind and helpful people I have ever met,” Gayle Lockwood told KUTV.

Lockwood, a retired BYU voice teacher, said she had Johnson as a student and called her a friend.

“She is a light that the world will miss,” she added.

A family friend has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the Johnson children as they arrange their funeral.

“The sudden deaths of Olin and Kerilyn Lowe Johnson have shocked many and they want to show their love and support to their six children as they process this tragedy,” the crowdfunding campaign said.

“It is hoped that they will not have to bear the financial burden of paying funeral expenses and other unexpected costs in the coming weeks and months.”
