Angel Javier Jaime, 26, has been charged with providing alcohol to a minor, according to a press release from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.

At 4 a.m. on June 8, officers received a call regarding a welfare issue with a resident of a residence in Rio Hondo.

At the scene, officers spoke with the reporting person, who said her daughter sent her a message on Snapchat asking her to pick her up because she was feeling “unwell.” She added that she immediately picked her up from the residence on FM 2925 after receiving her daughter’s message.

The girl told officers that a man named Jaime had been making sexual comments and requests via Snapchat, the press release said.

“During a preliminary investigation into a suspected criminal offense, officers determined that Angel Javier Jaime violated an offense defined in Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code 106.06, namely, furnishing alcohol to a minor,” Cameron County officials said in the press release.

According to officers, at some point during the evening, the girl drank a “twisted tea,” an alcoholic beverage. When officers asked Jaime if he knew she was drinking alcohol, he replied, “Yes.”

Jaime was arrested and taken to the Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.

Authorities say another alleged offense is still under investigation.
