Woman accused of stealing body from JPS hospital in Fort Worth – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Fort Worth police have arrested a woman who allegedly stole a car and a body.

Police have identified the woman as 36-year-old Valerie Traglor-Ellis of Azle.

Fort Worth Police were called to John Peter Smith Hospital (1500 South Main) around 7 p.m. Tuesday for a car theft.

When officers arrived, police said they learned that the incident began when a morgue worker arrived at the hospital in a corpse truck to pick up a body.

The morgue driver left the vehicle, which already contained another person’s body, and went to the hospital.

While the driver of the hearse was at the hospital, the suspect got into the car and drove away from the parking lot, according to police.

Police said they found the stolen body and vehicle in the 2600 block of Park Place Avenue, about two miles from the original crime scene.

Why Traglor-Ellis stole the hearse is still unclear this morning.

The police found the suspect a short time later and arrested her.

Traglor-Ellis was charged with auto theft and desecration of a corpse.

The vehicle and the deceased were handed over to the driver of the hearse service.
