Arrest made in connection with Boston Common shooting – NBC Boston

One person has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a man seriously injured on Boston Common on Monday evening, police said.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. on Tremont Street, Boston police said.

According to witnesses, someone fired between three and six shots in the area of ​​Park Street Station.

Investigators believe the victim, a man in his 30s, suffered serious injuries after being shot in the back. Police were unable to provide any information on his condition.

Witnesses said officers quickly rushed to the scene, subdued a man and took him into custody, but Boston police have not confirmed any arrests.

According to Boston police, officers saw the person run away from the scene and discard a firearm, which was seized as evidence.

Hours later, investigators were still visible. The entire area was cordoned off with crime scene tape and police dogs were brought in to collect additional evidence.

Those who live in the area and were on site during the shooting say they had a bad feeling shortly before the shooting.

“About two minutes later – five shots. I looked and everyone went down. I got down on the ground with my girlfriend and then I saw the police officer run after the shooter, take him down and arrest him,” said Jason Ortiz.

The identity of the arrested person has not yet been determined and it is unclear what charges will be brought against him.
