Homicide investigation underway after man shot in hotel room | Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was found shot to death in a hotel room early Sunday morning, prompting Fort Worth police to launch a homicide investigation.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 12:23 a.m. in the 4400 block of S. Freeway, where they located a man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators determined that the victim and suspect were in a hotel room with other people when a handgun in the suspect’s possession went off and struck the victim. Despite efforts by the suspect and others to call 911 and provide medical assistance, the victim could not be saved.

The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made. The Tarrant County Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
