Woman attacked, robbed and carjacked at noon on Bde Maka Ska

MINNEAPOLIS — Shannah Henderson said she walked from her parked car along Lagoon Avenue to Bde Maka Ska just before 1 p.m. Sunday to start walking.

Henderson said she was walking to the crosswalk at West Lake Street and East Bde Maka Ska Drive when she spotted two men.

“When I turned around, I noticed two guys following me, one of them close behind me with a bandana over his face. That scared me,” Henderson said.

Shortly afterwards, Henderson said they had attacked.

“It was very horrible,” Henderson said. “I was screaming for help. ‘Help me! Help me!'”

One of the suspects escaped with Henderson’s keys and stole her car. The other was caught by Good Samaritans.

According to a Minneapolis police report, police have arrested an 18-year-old. The teenager faces charges of car theft. The other young man is still being sought.

Since the attack, her car has been found in north Minneapolis, according to Henderson.

“There was no thinking, there was just action,” said Gabriel Miranda, shift manager at Pimento Jamaican Kitchen.

The arrested suspect was caught with the help of Miranda, who works at the nearby lakeside restaurant.

“I went at him and grabbed him by the neck,” Miranda said. “We ended up holding him down there until we could call the police and end it.”

Henderson, an Instagrammer who focuses on local “mocktails,” signed on to thank Miranda.

“Pimento on the Lake, your staff was amazing, they helped me when I called for help,” she said in the video.

Henderson has a warning for women.

“I believe I was caught and I want to warn all women to look around when they park their car and make sure there isn’t a scary man watching where they are going because I just don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” Henderson said.
