Teenager from Mays Landing declared dead

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A 19-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday when he collided with another vehicle at an intersection, police said.

According to a police statement Sunday morning, Jeremiah Saint Surin of Mays Landing was driving a 2003 Honda motorcycle eastbound on West Jersey Avenue approaching the intersection with Cates Road at around 6:16 p.m. Saturday.

Germain Rahn, 38, of Egg Harbor Township, was stopped at the northbound stop sign on Cates Road in her 2021 Ford Explorer as she waited to cross West Jersey Avenue. As she entered the intersection, Rahn was struck on the driver’s side of her vehicle at a right angle by Saint Surin’s motorcycle.

Parish EMS transported Saint Surin to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, Rahn suffered minor injuries from the airbags. No other occupants of her vehicle were reported to have sustained any injuries.

The Atlantic County District Attorney’s Office and AtlantiCare Advanced Life Support also responded to the accident. Traffic was diverted for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Officers Joseph Ricevuto and Robert Moran and Sergeant Ed Stearns of the Traffic Safety Unit investigated the accident.
