Police investigate third murder of the weekend in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) — Police have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting near 9th & Van Brunt Athletic Fields in Kansas City, Missouri, the third homicide of the weekend.

According to Kansas City, Missouri police, emergency responders were called to the area around 9th Street and Van Brunt near the sports fields at around 2:20 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

When emergency responders arrived, they reportedly found a single victim with obvious gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted crime. No further information has been released as police are still investigating.
