PennDot and Pennsylvania State Police participate in national “Click It or Ticket” initiative

With summer vacations just around the corner, more people will soon be traveling, and PennDOT, along with Pennsylvania State Police, want to make sure you stay safe. PennDOT and Pennsylvania State Police are participating in the “Click it or Ticket” campaign to encourage you to buckle up behind the wheel. Pennsylvania law requires all passengers to buckle up while driving. Children under the age of four must be properly restrained in an approved car seat. If your child is under the age of two, they must be properly secured in a rear-facing car seat. Children between the ages of four and eight should be in a child seat with a seatbelt for safety. According to Pennsylvania State Police, there were 11,756 seatbelt-free crashes in 2023. There were 316 fatalities as a result of those crashes. According to police, 92% of passengers who were unbelted would have survived had they been buckled in.
