Ugandan boda boda rider suspended for ‘disorganising family’

A boda boda rider in neighboring Uganda was banned from operating his vehicle for three months for violating a regulation.

According to a letter dated May 22 and seen by the Star, Okot Geoffrey Amuti of the Pader Municipal Council will not hold office from May 22, 2024 to August 22, 2024.

His suspension came after the Investigation Committee found a violation of Article 14 paragraph (17) of the Association’s statutes.

The article states: “No member has the right to destroy the family of his fellow Boda Boda member by falling in love with his comrade’s wife or by being put in a position to match his comrade’s wife with someone else.”

The Pader City Council Boda Boda Association noted that Okot will remain suspended until further notice, which both members and the public will be informed in writing.

Okot was warned not to comply as the next step would lead to fines or legal action as provided for in the Constitution.
