Gang rape: Gang rape of minor girl in Vaishali: 1 arrested | Patna News

Patna: One of the accused in connection with the gang rape of a minor girl in Vaishali district was arrested on Sunday. The incident took place when the girl was returning from a birthday party in the village on May 20 evening. However, the complaint was filed only on May 23. According to police, the arrested man along with his three accomplices ambushed the girl and took her to a nearby litchi farm where they committed the heinous crime. Vaishali SP Harkishore Rai said, “The arrested accused has been identified as Vivek Kumar Singh, son of Pawan Singh. He along with his three other accomplices are alleged to have raped the minor. Police have arrested Vivek and are conducting raids to arrest his other accomplices.” Local police station in-charge Chandan Kumar said the girl had gone alone to a birthday party in the village on May 20. “She was in a relationship with a youth from the same village. She had called him to meet him when she was returning from the party.” While they were in a litchi orchard, four youths from the same village caught them and threatened to reveal their affair to their families. They had even made a video of themselves harassing the youth and the girl. Following this, the four accused allegedly raped the girl,” he said. “The girl had not told her family members about it out of fear, but they suspected something evil. When the girl was convinced, she narrated the whole matter to the family. Following this, a complaint was lodged at the police station on May 24. The girl’s medical examination was done at Sadar Hospital to confirm the rape. Further investigation is on,” the SHO added.
