Jason Spencer in custody: Sheriff Ed Gonzalez’s chief of staff arrested again for violating protection order in the Woodlands

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the man, who currently serves as chief of staff to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, was arrested Thursday night in the Woodlands for allegedly violating a protection order.

A document states that MCSO officers found 51-year-old Jason Spencer sitting in his car in front of his home shortly before 4 p.m. on May 24, in clear violation of the Harris County Court’s order.

The above video is from the previous report.

Spencer was detained while officers reviewed the warrant. He was arrested shortly thereafter and taken to the Montogomery County Jail.

Protection orders are important tools for protecting people from harassment, abuse and threats.

The law firm representing Spencer sent ABC13 the following statement on Friday describing the nature of the situation.

Mr. Spencer had just gone to his ex-wife’s home to pick up his younger son for a scheduled visit at the time of his arrest. There are no allegations of threats or harassment and he was waiting for his son in his car, which was parked on the street in front of the home, at the time of his arrest.

In early May, Spencer was charged with “child injury” after being accused of abusing his teenage son eight months earlier.

Charging documents say Spencer slammed the 14-year-old against a wall in his Heights home on Sept. 13, 2023, threw a plastic gun case at him as he ran down the stairs, and pinned him to the ground by his arms.

According to investigators, the boy’s medical records showed that he suffered abrasions on his arms, back and face, a hematoma on his shoulder and other bruises.

Spencer appeared in court and posted bail.
