Woman claims police officer sexually assaulted her during traffic stop | News

SENATOBIA, Mississippi – The Senatobia Police Department is facing a $10 million lawsuit.

Previously, a woman had stated that she had been sexually harassed by a police officer during a traffic stop.

“Nobody deserves to go through this,” said Shanterra Jackson, who filed the lawsuit. “The law is there to protect you.”

The City of Senatobia is obliged to carry out its police activities lawfully in order to preserve the peace, rights and privileges of the City of Senatobia.

However, Jackson said her civil rights were violated during a traffic stop.

“I have nightmares and stuff,” she said.

Last summer, Jackson said she was a passenger in her fiancé’s car as they drove through Sardis, Mississippi.

Suddenly, she said, blue and red flashing lights appeared in her rearview mirror.

They were stopped during a traffic check by a Sardis police officer.

“The cop had a gun on the window,” Jackson said. “So I was pretty shocked and I thought, ‘Baby, are they going to shoot us or what?’ So he said, ‘Get out of the car.'”

Jackson said they followed his instructions, but then another patrol car arrived on the scene to assist.

But it wasn’t a Sardis police officer. Jackson said the patrol car belonged to the Senatobia Police Department.

“If something went wrong, I recorded it to make sure nothing happened,” Jackson said.

FOX13 obtained cellphone video showing the moments leading up to the attack.

It shows the Sardis police officer ordering Jackson’s friend to get into the patrol car.

Sardis Police Officer Willis McNeil then arrested her.

Police records show that McNeil turned off his body camera.

Jackson said she was handcuffed in the patrol car, but instead of going to the police station, she was taken into the woods, Jackson said.

“He eventually bent me over the car, took off my handcuffs and raped me,” Jackson said. “Then he put me back in the car and said, ‘I wouldn’t let them get you. You were too pretty.'”

Jackson said she was confused and frightened and had no way to escape.

She said Officer McNeil called the station and told them she would get a free ride home.

“My next thought was to give my children a home,” she said. “Just to make it home.”

FOX13 reached out to the Senatobia Police Department, who issued the following statement:

“Attorney Moore makes allegations against defendant Willis McNeil, saying he was on duty with the Senatobia Police Department. Moore’s allegations are patently false.”

FOX13 also attempted to contact Sardis Police to find out why Jackson was stopped, but received no response.
