A GoFundMe has been created for the 73-year-old grandmother who died in a store explosion in New Jersey

The 73-year-old woman who died in an explosion at an Old Bridge store last week was a beloved grandmother and longtime employee of the business where the accident occurred.

A GoFundMe.com set up to cover funeral costs described Eileen R. Marko as the mother of three adult children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

“To say we are in shock and disbelief is an understatement,” GoFundMe.com said. “She touched the lives of so many people and was loved by everyone who met her. She will forever be in our hearts and we will miss her deeply.”

Marko, a lifelong resident of Central Jersey, was born in New Brunswick and lived in several towns in Middlesex County before settling in South River 24 years ago, her obituary said. She worked for “many years” at Superior Signal, where the explosion occurred.

Four other employees were injured in Wednesday’s explosion.

According to her obituary, Marko was an avid pool player and long-time member of the American Poolplayers Association. She also enjoyed visiting the Parx Casino in Pennsylvania.

A memorial service for Marko is planned for Thursday.

A spokeswoman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday that the cause of the explosion on West Greystone Road remains under investigation.
