Suspect attacked man with pipe in bar in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – Police are searching for a man who allegedly beat another man with a metal pipe and sent him to the hospital Thursday night in Ann Arbor.

Ann Arbor police are asking the public for information to help identify the suspect in what investigators called a “random and unprovoked attack” at the Wolverine State Brewing Company on West Stadium Street.

According to police, the victim did not know the suspect (as seen in a surveillance image released by AAPD on Friday) and the motive for the attack is unclear.

Police said the two men had not exchanged a word before the attack shortly after 10 p.m.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of back injuries, police said, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

He is described as a white man, approximately 25 to 30 years old, slim and with short to medium length black hair. He was wearing glasses.
