2 arrested after men stole Rolex watches at gunpoint in Miami

MIAMI — Miami police arrested two men Monday who they said stole two other men’s Rolex watches.

Gelbinson Daniel Lugo, 22, and Oneal Jose Uribe, 30, both of Miami, are charged with armed robbery.

Uribe also faces an additional charge of carrying a concealed firearm.

According to the suspects’ arrest reports, the victims were getting into their vehicle just after 3 a.m. on April 7 when they were approached by three Hispanic men armed with guns.

Police said the robbers demanded the victims’ Rolex watches.

When a victim resisted, one of the robbers hit him with his weapon, police said.

According to arrest reports, the trio eventually took the other victim’s watch before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.

Investigators later determined that immediately before the robbery, the people in the “vulnerable vehicle” had met with Uribe, who was driving a white 2018 Porsche Macan.

According to police, he then followed the vehicle to the scene of the robbery, where they waited for the victims.

“Both vehicles assumed surveillance positions where the vehicle the victims entered was visible to them,” Uribe’s arrest report states. “You can see how the defendant left the crime scene in his vehicle immediately after the robbery along with the perpetrator’s vehicle.”

According to Uribe’s arrest report, he was stopped Monday in the Porsche and was wearing a Rolex without a serial number. According to authorities, there was also a weapon in the vehicle.

Police said Uribe waived his Miranda rights and identified himself in surveillance video shown to him by investigators. Police said he claimed he bought the Rolex from “someone on the street” for $6,000.

Police said Lugo also waived his rights and identified himself in the video.

As of Tuesday afternoon, both men were in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where their sentences had not yet been determined.

Police did not immediately confirm whether they had caught the third suspect in the case.
