POLICE OFFICERS SAY CANDACE MCCREE WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND OF BLACKSTOCK ROAD NEAR OLD REEDVILLE ROAD ON SATURDAY MORNING AND ALLOWED HIS CAR TO GO OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A MAILBOX AND A TREE.

Spartanburg County coroner confirms brain death in car crash

The Spartanburg County coroner declared a person brain dead Wednesday following an accident that occurred over the weekend. Around 6 a.m. Saturday morning, a 2003 Toyota Sedan was traveling south on South Blackstock Road in Spartanburg. The driver left the road, struck a mailbox and then a tree, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said. The driver, identified as Candace Michelle McCree, 34, of Spartanburg, was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and pronounced brain dead by the medical examiner at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The Spartanburg County coroner on Wednesday declared a patient brain dead following an accident that occurred over the weekend.

Around 6 a.m. Saturday, a 2003 Toyota Sedan was traveling south on South Blackstock Road in Spartanburg. The driver went off the road, hit a mailbox and then a tree, the South Carolina Highway Patrol says.

The driver, identified as Candace Michelle McCree, 34, of Spartanburg, was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and pronounced brain dead by the medical examiner at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday morning.
