This report is the first in a series of biennial progress reports on the implementation of the global health sector strategies on HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections for the period 2022-2030. It draws attention to progress and gaps in the preparation of the mid-term review of strategies in 2026.

Key messages

• the latest data shows that new infections and deaths are not falling fast enough;

• Progress has been made in expanding access to services in all three disease areas;

• However, many indicators are still not on track to achieve the global goals for 2025 and 2030. And

• Countries need to clearly focus on sustainability planning in all three disease areas.
