2 dead, 2 injured in suspected two-car DUI crash on Beach Street in San Luis Obispo

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (May 20, 2024) – Two men died in a suspected two-car DUI crash at Beach Street and Pismo Street.

According to San Luis Obispo police, the fatal accident occurred on Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. For possible drunk driving reasons, a driver speeding on Beach Street failed to stop at the stop sign on Pismo Street. The speeding vehicle then struck a second car heading west on Pismo Street.

The impact caused the fast-moving vehicle to roll over several times and throw the driver and one of his male passengers out of the traffic.

Minutes later, paramedics arrived and took the ejected occupants to a hospital, where they died. Officials did not release their identities.

Another male occupant, who was wearing a seatbelt, reported minor injuries. The woman in the second car was taken to a hospital by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.
