Jeremy Renner reveals he is struggling to return to the Taylor Sheridan show after an accident

Jeremy Renner has revealed he initially struggled to return to production of Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown following his near-fatal snowplow accident.

In January 2023, Jeremy Renner suffered serious injuries after being run over by his snow groomer. The accident weighed around 14,330 pounds and left Renner with chest trauma, a collapsed lung and 38 broken bones.

A year later, in January 2024, he returned to production of Mayor of Kingstown, the Taylor Sheridan TV show in which Renner appears as Mike McLusky. In the crime drama, McLusky is part of a family of brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where incarceration is the only business that pays.

Now Renner has revealed details about his return to set for Season 3, revealing that it was initially a difficult task keeping up with the demanding environment as he continued to recover and even fell asleep during filming.

“They say, ‘And action!’ And I was outside. We realized they were making me work too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row,” he said (via LA Times). “I’m willing to do anything, but what I can do is something else.”

As a result, the show’s producers adjusted their schedules and Renner remained in Pittsburgh for the remainder of the four-month production rather than flying back and forth to California. His co-star Emma Laird, who plays Iris, remembers that Renner prevailed.

“When he was on camera, it was like the accident never really happened,” she said. “At first I asked how he was doing and he was in a little pain, but he never openly complained or moaned. This is simply a testament to how professional he is.

“Most actors complain about the stupidest things, like having to wait in their trailer for an hour. And he had this bad accident and you don’t hear him complain in the slightest.”

Season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown arrives on Paramount+ on June 2nd. For more information, check out our Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 and 6666 guides.
