Sean Richmond, director of activities and athletics for the Stroudsburg Area School District and wrestling coach, died after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 380 Saturday.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, calls were received just after 6 p.m. Saturday stating that a tractor-trailer had struck a person near mile marker 1.4 on northbound I-380 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County. Police, fire and rescue services responded.

Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac confirmed to the Pocono Record on Sunday that Richmond was the victim.

Richmond was taken to St. Luke’s Monroe Campus, where he died.

Since 2018, he has served as Stroudsburg’s sports and activities director.

“Our entire District XI family mourns the loss of Sean Richmond. Sean was a strong coach and AD who cared deeply about the athletes at Stroudsburg High. We will all miss him. Thoughts to his young girls, his wife and the entire family the Mountie family,” the PIAA account for District XI Posted on X.
