A 16-year-old British girl was reportedly raped while on holiday with her parents in Crete.

According to a police report cited in local media, the teenager was attacked after she left her parents to go to the bathroom at a bar in the popular resort of Mali.

Her attacker is said to have followed her into the bathroom and then quickly fled.

The 16-year-old immediately went to a police station with her mother and reported the incident.

Greek newspaper reports indicate that police identified the suspect based on CCTV footage captured in the bar and surrounding shops.

He is said to be a 28-year-old man of Pakistani origin who is now being sought.

The incident came a year after a 24-year-old British woman was raped in a hotel room in nearby Rethymno.

Two British teenagers are accused of luring her back to her room after a night of drinking and attacking her while filming the incident.

They have been released from custody but must report to the Greek embassy in London every month while the investigation continues.

The same year, two Pakistani men were jailed for raping another British teenager, also in Rethymno.

The attackers, aged 27 and 24, approached the 18-year-old while she was sunbathing and pushed her onto the tanning bed.

Last year another British tourist was raped in Hersonissos. She claimed she was attacked by a taxi driver who took her to a secluded location instead of her hotel.

It is assumed that the suspect has not yet been caught.
